Janet Leavens first started dance instruction at the age of eleven. She studied the techniques of tap, jazz and ballet for many years. During that time, Janet was an assistant teacher for two years. She was a member of the Tampa Jazz Company and performed at the Florida State Fair as well as other public events. A great experience a this time was attending several workshops and participating in competitions at Walt Disney World.

Pursuing her dream of dance, Janet returned to formal instruction in 1991 at the Chez Dance Studio. Since that time she once again has taken classes in tap, jazz and ballet. Realizing her love of the art of dance, she began to train for a teaching position. Furthering her education she then began to study dance at Rowan State College and attending workshops in New York City.

Janet loves working with children. Through her teaching she strives to help each child feel good about their accomplishments as well as enjoy their dance experience.
